Arizona in August?! You bet! For the magic of the monsoon season, we invite you to the “sky islands” of Southeastern Arizona, which peer down upon the Sonoran Desert floor with an air of majesty and wonder. From the saguaro forests below to the pine forests above, the birding in and around these desert oases is nothing short of awesome. (visit our Arizona bird watching tour blog)
October 4-17th, 2014
As the tour title suggests, we will be enjoying equally the birds, cuisines and historical wonders of this magical Italian island.
Leading our tour from the Italian side, we are thrilled to introduce you to one of the best naturalists we have met anywhere, Sicilian native Andrea Corso. Andrea has seen more birds in Italy than anyone in the world, and he literally wrote the book on the birds of Sicily, Avifauna di Sicilia. But Andrea’s knowledge goes far beyond the island’s birdlife. He knows the archaeology, architecture, and viticulture; he will take us to the best gelato and the freshest seafood; and he will entertain us with colorful stories and music of his homeland. Having Andrea as our local guide makes this trip truly world-class.

Our favorite birding guide is Steve Shunk from Paradise Birding, who led my husband on his first trip back in 1996. Steve is a very gifted birder, an excellent teacher and naturalist, and a wonderful ambassador for birding.
